Easy Coach's founding director and former Managing Director, Azym Dossa, has died.

In a statement issued on February 26, 2026, the firm confirmed his death.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the demise of Azym Dossa, founding director and former Managing Director of Easy Coach," Easy Coach said.

“Dossa’s vision, leadership, and dedication shaped Easy Coach from its earliest days and left a lasting legacy that will always be part of who we are as a company.”

The firm also extended condolences to Dossa’s family and loved ones.

“May Allah grant him eternal peace and give strength and patience to all who mourn his loss. Ameen,” said the firm.

Dossa’s death comes a year after he retired from actively managing the company.

He cited health challenges and age as the reasons for stepping down from the corner office at the company’s main offices at Railways Godown along Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi.

“This has not been an easy decision. However, given my recent health challenges associated with advanced age, I am of the opinion that this is the right time for me to step down. The directors and shareholders of the company have kindly acceded to my request,” Dossa had said in a memo to staff.

“While I am stepping down from the executive role, I will remain closely connected to Easy Coach and will continue to offer my guidance and support to the company,” he added.

Dossa’s history in Kenya’s bus transport industry dates back to the days of the now-defunct Akamba Bus, where he once served as Chief Financial Officer.

“My tenure as the CFO of one of Kenya’s most successful transport companies, Akamba, gave me not only invaluable experience but also a unique perspective on the industry. Inspired by a combination of what I saw could be improved and an intrinsic drive to craft an even better enterprise, I decided to establish Easy Coach,” Dossa said in an earlier interview.

He started the company with an initial fleet of seven buses operating a single route between Nairobi and Kisumu, offering both day and night services, with a standby bus to ensure seamless rotation for regular maintenance and emergency rescues when needed.
